Ryan is a LIAR.

Give him a bad review... :icon_evil:

What does he stand to gain from lying? I think things just changed today and EVERYONE is finding out now...where exactly was that text supposed to be form anyway though? I mean if that was at a Verizon store isn't it possible that it was only true for Verizon stores and it could still drop at BB the 14th?

It was a joke, I could care less about Ryan. What I know is that we've been jerked around about everything regarding this phone. I get that nothing's official. A release date was never official. Now this delay leak isn't official. The only thing official is that we're getting teased by Verizon and Best Buy.

At this point though, and in all seriousness, I would not be surprised if this gets pushed back into March. So don't get your hopes up.

I thought it was a joke but all of this uncertainty has me antsy. The main thing frustrating me is that my old phone is so terrible but I use it so much that all I can think about is cell phones. I just despise rumors in general, and I said that earlier, that its terrible how much VZW is jerking it's customers around.

I agree, I can't stand my LG Dare anymore, I really want to fling it up against a wall

My sentiments exactly. My damn phone dies every time I put it in my pocket. What's up with that?!? Forget about going on the internet or anything. I haven't bothered even looking at phones since I got the one I have now almost 2 years ago and now I'm realizing just how behind the times I was.

Honestly, I don't think Verizon itself is doing any of the "jerking around." They have been very careful to not give any "official" information as to release date yet, for precisely this reason. They knew things could change all the time, and didn't want to get pigeon-holed on a specific date and then have pissed off customers when they missed it. We are mainly doing it to ourselves by reading every tech blog and forum having to do with this phone, and hanging on every rumor as if it were true. There has been too much speculation to believe anything until Verizon comes out with an official presser telling us when we can get our hands on the phone.

Now Best Buy on the other hand, there's a little bit of jerking going on there...

BTW, customer service reps know nothing about releases, so take anything you hear from them with a grain of salt. They want to sell you a phone today, not a few weeks or a month from now. They have quotas and commission to make.

My Blackberry has almost given me carpal tunnel - I have to get off this thing. I'm about ready to say the hell with it and get a Droid X.

OK, well in the meantime, how does Best Buy's buyback program work on the phones?

For instance, lets say I get the Thunderbolt now and then a year from now I want to switch to the Bionic (or Pyramid, or whatever) - how much will Best Buy give me for the TB?

I have a feeling it'll be something like $20 in store credit or something lame like that. I mean, would I be better off just selling it on eBay than bothering with the buyback?

Up to 6 months old its 50% of value, 6-12 40%, 12-18 30%, 18-24 20%.

So lets say its value is 629.99, at one year it will be 30%, so 188.99.

On ebay you would get at least that much, as long as its a fairly popular phone, and you would probably get more. Droid 1's bring 150-200 and they are about 1.5 years old now. But with the buyback, you dont have to worry about making a sale, its guaranteed.

So the buyback is on the retail price, not the contract price? Even if you buy it at the contract price?

That seems like a pretty good deal to me....

I just despise rumors in general, and I said that earlier, that its terrible how much VZW is jerking it's customers around.

How is VZW jerking ANYONE around? They have not announced a release date on the device. Ever. It's not on their website, it's not advertised in their stores, and if you call them wanting one they tell you it's not available yet. How exactly is this jerking you around? Because you want it now now now and they are not selling it yet???

Best Buy stores have tweeted all sorts of junk tweets trying to bring people in, but Best Buy is not owned by VZW, they are just a reseller (and a rather sucky one at that).

Ok...what I said before but at Best Buy. The point is when a customer base is excited about something it's good to give them something concrete, especially within just 2 weeks - 1 month before release. I feel like by now we should at least know something.

I think that if you can get the buy back for free with BB why not.. If you can get more on ebay then sell it there, but if you want the ease you have the gurantee.... I am going to get it if I can slide in the free promotion they got pending this whole 14th debacle, but I wouldnt pay for it knowing you got ebay for cheaper...
