HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

I don't know if its been said in the last 400 pages. But iPhone release date 2/10 + 14 day return policy = 2/24 at the earliest for any 4G release. That's a Thursday though, so I'll guess Saturday the 26th or Sunday the 27th.

You are aware that Verizon almost always releases phones on Thursdays right?

We also need to consider something else. Verizon may be delaying the TB to add a few extra incentives to buy it over the dual core Atrix or the supposedly cheaper Inspire. They could possibly be devoping a firmware which will allow the processor to run beyond 1ghz (1.2-1.4 mabye) which its Snapdragon chip is very capable of. Most people would be attracted to a higher clock speed and wouldnt even understand what a dual core is. Even tech people will appreciate clock speed more than a dual core, untill Android really takes advantage of a second core, that is.
*Or mabye they are buying thousands of Seidio 1800 MaH batteries to include with the TB, although that is highly unlikely.haha

I remember reading on some well-known blog that Verizon was trying to push all 4 4G LTE devices out one after another (like 1 week after the other).

Was this not true? Any one got any information on that?

Why would Verizon be scared of losing customers to AT&T? I bet very few people are jumping to AT&T just for the Atrix. The people who would potentially do this are YOU - the people waiting (im)patiently for the Thunderbolt.

Do you REALLY think it's being delayed because it's not "100%?"

Bahhhh, it's already been shipped - I bet every Best Buy in this country is stocked with these things, in boxes, with giant labels that say DO NOT SELL UNTIL WE SAY SO -LOVE VERIZON.

Be clear - you're being jerked around. Verizon is in bed with Apple now and they're not screwing up that relationship by pushing a nerdy Android device. Steve Jobs might get jealous :)

Phones don't magically get released without notice. There isn't even a slim chance this phone gets released this week.

perspective? you're offering an unsupported claim about a conspiracy that apple and verizon are in bed.

please, to both the people that are saying 2-24 and those who argue. please don't try to push your "facts" without any real evidence. leave the speculation to those who at least cite articles or have sources.

That's funny, because almost every source and article that's been quoted in the 700 some pages of this thread has been pretty much dead wrong - and my speculation that Verizon only cares about the iPhone now and that the phone will be released in March at the earliest seems to be the most accurate thing on here so far.

Don't kid yourself - every article, source and speculative post by me or anyone else is no more or less reliable than anything else out there.

so you're more credible than bmx or Miami because you hold what position that allows you access to information we don't have?

well miami has stated that he has seen the device and that it will be released this thursday ON THE 24TH and that makes perfect sense!! everyone that was getting a iphone would pretty much have one by now!!

I hadn't noticed that, no. But in this case I think not. Still too close to those 3G iPhone4 sales and their return date. Besides, that Thursday is Xoom day. If its correct that the Xoom will be unsubsidised, then there would be no reason to buy a Xoom and activate 3G service on it if you could buy a 4G phone with a hotspot the same day and run it on WiFi. I think it'll be pushed to the weekend.

It is very common for VZW to release products on a Thnursday. Hell, even sounds like a good match. -"Thunderbolt Thursday!" :)

I know stupid huh? He takes care of multi-million dollar earning companies and doesnt know his crap. Verizon has really screwed the pooch on this launch, and if this has been a PR play, they really suck!

How has Verizon "screwed the pooch"? Verizon never ever not even once mentioned a release date. From the time of the CES till now all they have ever said was 1st quarter 2011. The first quarter ends on March 31.

Everyone is getting so upset at Verizon and they have done nothing wrong. Any mention of a release date has been nothing more than speculation.
As far as the BB ad goes, those things are printed up weeks in advance and I have no doubt that when those ads were printed, that was the intended release date but things change and obviously have.

Just take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the phone when it gets here. Life is too short to get so wound up about such small things.

Thank you!!! there in hear just trying to get a rise out of ppl thats all

I'm not more credible, I'm just using common sense.

Didn't Miami say this phone would be released February 14 at the beginning of the month? Yes.

No one know when this phone will be released - Verizon is hiding their cards on this one and despite what evidence there may be, it's not definite. The phone is out there - yes, definitely, and it's ready to release. But Verizon isn't releasing it and it's because of the iPhone. They don't care about the Thunderbolt. And they will market it along with LTE, heavily, once the iPhone fervor dies down. Verizon doesn't know when that will be, and they're not making any announcements until it does.

If nothing I'm saying is making sense, then please, continue clinging to false hope.

You can't use Wifi on the Xoom until you activate at least a month of service though right?

Lol. If this thread gets closed by you (once again) creating conflict in the thread I will die laughing. Sure says something...

Anyway... I'm getting the Thunderbolt whenever it comes out as I don't care for Moto Blur. Need to get rid of this outdated LG Chocolate "Touch".

Verizon isn't really "delaying" anything though. I wish people would understand that... Verizon never announced an official release date so they can't delay it. Best Buy is the one giving false hope. Verizon only promised the Thunderbolt would be released in Q1 and as far as I can tell... it's still Q1.

I asked Nick on BB mobile chat how they can take pre-orders for a phone that doesn't have a release date and he closed the chat. :D

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that not having the same opinion as everyone else was against forum policy. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm not being disrespectful, I'm not calling names or getting angry. I'm just disagreeing and I'm offering what evidence I have to form my opinion on the matter. I'm not pretending to be certain of anything, or having mythical unicorn sources, gurus, sales reps, regional managers or Best Buy stock boys whispering in my ear.

I'm taking what happened so far, what I've read and what I know about business and helping all of not be too disappointed this Thursday when the TB isn't released.

Now, is that really a reason to get angry or cause conflict? I don't think so.

We all should wait untill the 24th and see what happens. If Verizon is as money hungry and is worried about new customers like everyone is saying, they will want to get the TB out ASAP to compete with the Atrix and the Inspire from AT&T The 24th may be just close enough to the Atrix release to lure in customers from the dual core hype that AT&T will no doubt be causing, and just far enough from the Iphone release so they wont have to worry about a huge wave of returns.

Actually, I have a retort to this. What they're doing is probably good business sense... Verizon isn't trying to compete with the Atrix. They have the Android market cornered. You see, in the world of mobile phones, there are few "new" customers to get - most everyone has a cell phone. The thorn in Verizon's side has always been the iPhone - that one super popular device that AT&T had it's stranglehold on. Now that Verizon has it, they finally have the trump card to win subscribers from their biggest competetor - Big Blue. And it's working - people are willingly paying the early term fee just to switch to the same exact phone on a different network. What can I say, people are dumb.

I would buy this - if there were more people going from AT&T to Verizon when the iPhone launched, but it was a dud (from all reports out there). I think people are waiting for the iPhone 5 or for their contracts to end or waiting for talk/surf on Verizon.

You are right in that there are very few new phone subscribers. Most new customers are kids and they get added in as a $10 extra line fee on their parent's plan.

The differentiator here for Verizon data network speed (4G) - their first 4G phone is the TB. That is how they get attacked in the marketplace (slow network speeds).

I think the sooner Verizon gets this phone out there, the better for them.
