HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

After calling yesterday evening and confirming that it would be available for pickup tomorrow morning I called again tonight to make sure and now I'm told they got an employee newsletter today saying it is TBA and they didn't receive shipments today. The guy told me they are simply waiting on verizon to ship them the phones. Can't believe they got the memo this late...I haven't even switched to verizon yet and they're already pissing me off

BB should never have said that they would be available the 14th. Obviously they didn't know anything so they never should have said anything. What a mess.

Also I'm not letting of of the possibility of the 17th. They've made it clear they like Thursdays and I'm trying to remain optimistic because I am really sick of my phone XD

I stopped by the Verizon store today and they didn't have a release date yet. The rep said they went for training for the Thunderbolt though. They probably know the date but they're not saying. Probably so they can sell more iphones.

VZW has not completely done away with one year contracts, have they? Though my contract and NE2 are not due until July, I know that I am eligible for the annual early upgrade. So when I shop for phones on the VZW site, I can see my two-year contract discounted prices. However there is a drop down to select "Pricing for" but it can only be "2-year contract". There is no option for 1-year like there should be. Anyone else?

I've read that BB cannot do the early upgrade or one-year contracts but now I am wondering about if VZW can do a one-year deal. I have seen folk report estimated prices for the TB of $250 2-year and like $329 with a 1-year contract and was thinking 1-year was the way to go to give flexibility for a dual-core design in 2012.

I'm in the same boat as you so I know what you are talking about. Verizon does still do 1 year contracts. The reason you, and me as well, can't see the 1 year option online is because the current contract is not up. You can't sign a 1 year contract until your 2 year contract is up. It may be 20 months instead of the 24 months, I'm not sure exactly but that is the reason. The 2 year upgrade works after 13 months only at Verizon and not Best Buy. Unless you plan on spending full retail, you will have to wait and buy it through Verizon.

I have no problem with buying from VZW rather than BB. If I'm following you, you're saying that opting for our early upgrade leaves us only able to do a new two year contract. If I want a one-year contract, I have to wait for my 20 months in July? Yuck! Not good.

Yep you got it. Sucks sometimes but from a business standpoint it makes sense. I was thinking about 1 year too but I think I'll be happy enough with the TB to wait 20 months after buying it. If not, and I'm wanting new after say 14, then I'll just have to pay the 210 or so it would be to terminate the contract.

I'm glad I'm on a 1 year contract. I'll just wait until Verizon gets the phone.

Yep, just got called from my bb, and its not goin to be there tomorrow. What a bunch of idiots. Telling people all week that the phone will be there and then the night before calling u telling u it isn't. Bb people are the biggest Melton I have ever dealt with, after this phone I will never buy from them again.

Do you really think the BB people you actually get on the phone have any more info than what's been reported here?
They know nothing more than what they are told, when they are told it. These employees do not have access to any information regarding things Verizon wants to keep secret.

Everyone ripped on Miami when he reported delays last week and now what he's said is turning out to be exactly true.

Wichita BB update: I just called and the guy was still adamant about tomorrow's release. I asked about the delivery situation (no delivery on Sunday), and he was rather confident the FedEx truck would be there in the morning and he'd be giving me a call to come pick it up. So I'm either going to be really happy or I'll be ready to kick some BB/Verizon butt tomorrow. I also asked about the memo that's on droid-life, Additional Motorola XOOM Pricing Details, Thunderbolt at Best Buy Date - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog
He said he had seen that too, but his store hadn't received anything. I was basically begging him to tell me it was delayed just so I wouldn't get my hopes up, but he pretty much patted me on the head, told me it would be tomorrow, and that everything would be ok. Haha.

Best of luck. This keeps that teeny tiny shred of hope for a bunch of us.

ive said this in an earlier post, but i really believe its coming to bb on the 17th and verizon stores on the 24th.The bb flyer that comes out the 20th is our best evidence. It has the tbolt in it for sale and also says national retail exclusive, meaning they'll have it before verizon

Ashtray: national retail exclusive doesn't mean they have it and verizon doesn't. It is a verizon phone, when it is released it will be released by both best buy and verizon at the same time.
