HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

I don't know about you guys, but I'm actually HAPPY about the newly rumored $750 off-contract price of the ThunderBolt. That means when I sell my TB in a year to upgrade to dual core, it will be worth more then than if it was $630 retail now. I would never buy a phone off-contract, its a huge waste of money.

I got my droid off ebay for $300 off contract. Which meant that my early upgrade could be used for the thunderbolt.

Engadget update on Thunderbolt posted below. Poking at an even possible APRIL release. Now let's hope we at least get March.

Is it officially confirmed that Verizon is getting the iPhone5 this summer? I don't think they would release it that close to getting the iPhone 4 (those customers would be pissed). I think it is more likely that iPhone releases will be staggered between AT&T and Verizon (ie. AT&T gets the new iPhone each summer, while Verizon gets it later in the winter). That would be consistent with Verizon's constantly lagging behind the other carriers is having the latest device technology.

This is stating that the official date is Feb 24th.. Now take as a grain of salt like the rest. Best I can tell this is just from "their official source"..

Whoops, counted wrong. If the TB is released on the 24th, the people who get the iPhone today will be screwed if they want to exchange it then, but anyone who gets it tomorrow or this weekend or later can still return it. If the TB is released on the 24th, that means Verizon is counting on a ton of iPhone sales today, and not as many this weekend. Otherwise, they will probably wait until the 28th or maybe even early March.

The 24th would be 14 days after they bought it if they purchased today (2/10) so wouldnt they still be able to return it on the 14th day?

If so i would assume that they will not release it until after the 24th, and i would imagine they would want to advertise a bit before they do release it.

I would love to see it on the 14th, but i'm going to expect early march and just be happy if it comes before then. Not saying i wont be checking this thread out daily lol.

Nothing official until its on VZWs website. Once someone links an announcement from VZWs site then, and only then, will it be official.

@want ... normally I'd agree but everyone here is riding on the fact that "Verizon wont let Best Buy have a phone without them having it first" theory and I don't see why they can't, and i haven't seen/heard anything saying that Best Buy's exclusive rights to sell the phone first was just a publicity stunt or anything.
And best buy took pre-orders which many Verizon folks said wouldn't be possible ... again just being a blind optimist

That's why I said I counted wrong, I thought that at first too. The 14th day after the 10th is the 23rd, so those buying the iPhone today would not be able to exchange it for the TB on the 24th.

And yeah, hopefully we will start seeing commercials for the TB soon. They will probably give the iPhone at least a little time to itself since its their cash cow right now. They already have some for LTE where it would be easy to just substitute clips of the TB in to save money (eg. kid getting box in mail and opening in barn, kid running through field with lightning bolt). Just pop in the TB instead of the lightning bolt, easy.
