That just made me lauph so hard ty I needed that!!!! :)
My thoughts exactly chris...were being screwed for helping a company get to where they are now, thanx vzw, much love... hypocrites.

Seriously? You're being screwed??? If your idea of "being screwed" is having to wait 2 weeks for a new cell phone, man do you have a very long lifetime of "being screwed" ahead of you.

It's official - I've weighed my options. Based on this release date fiasco, the price tag, and a lack of LTE coverage in my area, I'm staying with AT&T and going with the Atrix - which, next to the Thunderbolt and disregarding the network, is a better phone anyway.

Good luck continuing to follow this little saga... at least AT&T has announced that the Atrix will be here by March 6th or earlier. If the Thunderbolt drops before March, you can all tell me how wrong I was.

Well yeah if you dont have LTE I would say 50% of the desire for this phone is gone, for me at least.

Right now I get 1-2Mbps DL on 3g and WIFI at home 3-5Mbps so yeah if I can get a phone that has 6-12Mbps DL I'm going to be stoked about it!

If I was you I would not get the TB but look into Sprint and T-Mobile as well...

No one will know anything until we all know.

No matter how many people saying "I have a reliable source he's telling me the phone is coming out [insert unofficial release date here], the phone will cost [insert unofficial price here] with a 2 year contract, and the data plan will be [insert unofficial price here]/mo.

As most of been saying, we should probably see an official announcement within the next few days, so take what "Phil" says with a hefty grain of salt. What he says isn't any where near official.

--Nothing personal to Phil of course, this goes to any other website or person saying they have the insiders scoop.

Maybe but for now I'm just assuming the 24th. If I get it sooner that's great but having expectations just means that they can be dashed. The way thing's seem to go with this stuff I would probably be safest assuming March but for now the 24th is where I'm expecting it barring anything more "official".

Yeah while everything I have said, as well as people like Phil, is more than likely true, I would never bet my life on it, the cell phone world is indeed a crazy one, and anything can happen. While we can assume 4G won't cost more, it would suck for everyone that preordered if 4G costs $15/month in addition to 3G :/

I still stand behind my 14th release date, though, but hey, I'm not a reliable source people.

I travel enough that I need to consider coverage, and T-Mobile and Sprint are lacking in my area. I can weight Verizon and AT&T fairly equally with a lack of great 3G support from Verizon south of me.

So, all things being equal, the Atrix is a better phone. And it'll be cheaper. Probably, since Atrix pricing has been officially announced...

androidcentral is confirming a Feb 24 release date.

Feb. 24 Thunderbolt launch date confirmed - Android Forums
Feb. 24 Thunderbolt launch date confirmed - Android Forums

Phil at AndroidCentral is usually a pretty trusted source with good info. My only reservation about the February 24th date is this: People who buy the iPhone today (a significant number of their initial launch sales) will still be able to return the iPhail on the 24th when they realize how much better and more capable the ThunderBolt will be than their toy phone. According to Miami, this will cost Verizon a $47.50 fee per phone returned (probably for overhead and repackaging, or maybe its just a penalty), and also Verizon will not be able to sell the phone as new again (costing them even more money). The restocking fee they get will not nearly make up for this loss, and Verizon could end up losing a lot of money because of this.

However, if they wait a few more days, say until February 28th like Miami stated back on January 30, that will provide 4 days of iPhone sales where disappointed customers who have a change of heart will be locked in and can no longer return it. The first few days of iPhone sales will be huge (especially today and this weekend), and it will taper off after that.

Does anyone know what the shortest time has ever been between the official announcement date of a Verizon phone and the release date for the phone?

For example, VZW announced the iPhone 4 on 1/11/11 and it released on 2/10/11. I believe the original Droid was announced 10/17/09 and released on 11/6/09.

I'm very skeptical of a release date of anything before 2/24/10, because I find it hard to believe Verizon would make an official announcement on their first 4G phone any where from 4 days to 3 days, etc before they begin selling it (if that makes sense).

Whoops, counted wrong. If the TB is released on the 24th, the people who get the iPhone today will be screwed if they want to exchange it then, but anyone who gets it tomorrow or this weekend or later can still return it. If the TB is released on the 24th, that means Verizon is counting on a ton of iPhone sales today, and not as many this weekend. Otherwise, they will probably wait until the 28th or maybe even early March.

That makes some sense. You would think this would be a big release but it's being totally overshadowed by the iPhail. Apple is just totally having their way with Verizon from the look of things and I don't care what anyone says I feel like they are screwing us. I seriously NEED a new phone and this is very disheartening.

I don't mean to be the blind optimist but I just spoke with a BB customer service Rep regarding my premier silver rewards account and during the conversation she informed me they were still releasing on the 14th ... now it may just be me but if they were delaying it she wouldof been told ... again excuse the optimism towards a 14th BB release despite the recent confirmed for the 24th post ...

MIUI'd OG Droid

I would be very surprised to see a release of the device any where within a week from the official announcement. There a tons of people who aren't following this day by night like we are, and to keep the first 4G device from Verizon this quiet is only hurting Verizon itself.

alot of people might wait until the iphone 5 comes out in june or july. Why buy an iphone 4 when in 4 or 5 months the iphone 5 will be out.

That being said, hopefully verizon makes an announcement today or tomorrow and at least starts pre-orders tomorrow or monday.

Did they have a pre-order for the droid?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm actually HAPPY about the newly rumored $750 off-contract price of the ThunderBolt. That means when I sell my TB in a year to upgrade to dual core, it will be worth more then than if it was $630 retail now. I would never buy a phone off-contract, its a huge waste of money.
