HTC Sense doesnt hard reset... Help!!

I currently use Galaxy S
A friend of mine was given an HTC HD2 Sense but it wasnt in factory settings so I serched and look on how to hard reset. I did and followed the steps many times but still the phone is in another persons name.
Whats happening?
