How to speed up the boot time of MIUI, and any other rom!

1. Get some kind of file manager that can access system files.

2. Go to /system

3. Open up build.prop with a text editor.

Oh, and you might want to make a back up of build.prop

4. Find where it says

# This is a high density device with more memory, so larger vm heaps for it.
dalvik.vm.heapsize=24m

It's about halfway down on the file.

5. Change 24 to 32.

DON'T BE FOOLISH AND CHANGE IT ANY HIGHER THAN 32, IT COULD BE BAD FOR YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!! JUST DONT!!!!!!

6. Done!

24m or 32m; 32m being the highest anyone should run on the Droid.

Setting your heapsize to 24m will make less apps stay in memory when memory is needed, but your phone will be "snappier" overall. And setting your heapsize to 32m will make more apps stay in memory, but your phone will be a bit more sluggish.

Anything over 32m and you're just asking for a crippled phone after it's been on for an hour or so.

hell man...miui v2 was set to 40m.

I changed that a long time ago. Much snappier for sure. I dont know why it was ever that high. SS4.8 is 24, so that is what I changed mine to. Big difference.

y would the people making the roms do this and mod it if it makes it slower? that dont make sense unlesss they have a diff view on this..i would like to know before i go changing it

I too find this interesting, however I changed mine from 48 (liquid frozen yogurt) to 24 and saw no difference in performance at all.
