How to delete pictures

I recently downloaded a photo and then deleted it, but the picture is still visible (when I click on it, it says deleted, but the smaller version is still in my gallery). Thanks for any assistance!

Reboot, should do the trick. Might be able to mount the sd card to a computer and unmount, it will then rebuild the gallery preview images.

Not on the stock gallery, there are some on the market though.
