If its rooted you could do a data wipe through recovery.

Can you get to recovery by hold X+power button?

Not sure how similar the droid and droid 2 is but you can go into the stock recovery (for me it's holding power and the x key. When you get to the little android and triangle with a! In it press the search button and you will be in stock recovery. Use the volume keys to navigate up and down to factory reset and the camera button to enter. Should be good to go.
