how long does it take for google to get a GPS signal

Well I live right near the mountains so ill just wait

LOL, yeah that would do it. Here in TN I have to be in the open because of the terrain. Once I get a lock I'm good but getting the lock can be tricky at times. But normally doesn't take more than a min (most of the time less). But then I've learned (from my old device) not to even bother if I'm in certain areas.

GPS usually gets a lock very quickly outdoors. If it's got a clear view of the sky and doesn't lock in a couple of seconds, I know I'll need to reboot.

I have found on occasion the GPS will not work. Most times it was due to not having the GPS enabled, using an app that needed to have GPS, and then enabling GPS. Even though I enabled it after the fact, it won't get a lock; killing the app and starting it again doesn't help. The only thing that works is rebooting the phone.

I went to verizon today and on the way put the gps on. It did not work. It still said searching for gps. It updated my location twice during the ride and both times it was way off. When I got to verizon they exchanged my phone. When I got the new phone I tried it in the store and it still said searching for gps. The woman asked someone about it and they said that 3 days ago people were going in with the problem. He said everybody in the store with the phone was having the same problem. He blamed the google networks. Anyways I drove home with my new phone and voila it started working. It works flawlessly now. Might have been the phone. Maybe a hard reboot my fix the problem but I didnt try that. My phone is still under the 30 days so the phone swap was no problem.

i think it's a software bug. a lot of people have this problem if your search around. i used to have this problem, but then the past few weeks it worked fine. today, it came back, but this time fixed it self. before, i would have to reboot the phone to fix it. it would only happen about once a week.

not sure if it's just android, or one of the other gps enabled apps that somehow creates a conflict. but it's not a hardware issue, and exchanging the phone won't fix it.
