How do I stop the dinging noise!

My droid makes a terrible dinging noise when my media volume is turned up. It is really annoying when I am trying to listen to music or podcasts. Please help!

there are numerous reports of scratchiness with media volume maxed, with headphones. try bringing it down a single notch.
not sure if this is the same problem though because mine did not sound like a ding.
