How do I get bold and italics?

This may be a stupid oversight on my part but.... is it possible to get text formatting in email messages? Bold? Italics?

Not on your stock keyboard...

It's disappointing since even my old feature phone had that!

You might check the Market, may have a custom keyboard.

Otherwise, check into custom ROM's, i'm not pro in that department, but one of the ROM's may have a keyboard with italics.
