How can you tell how much life a battery has left?

OK, so I used to have a d1 but got a replacement d2 which came with its own battery. I seem to have them mixed up and would assume the new d2 battery would have a better life but they look identical. Anyway to tell them apart? They're both a BP6X -identical as far as I can tell.

I don't think there is a way, sorry.

Because they are the exact same battery. Only way to tell them apart is which one has the lesser battery life.

On the back of the battery there is a serial number. It contains letters and numbers. S/N's usually tell you where it was made, the date it was made, and lot number. Look at the two S/N's and see which one has the latest date code in it. My battery has a 1012 in it. So i think my battery was made in 2010 December. Hope this helps
