homescreen in landscape mode?

For a brief moment when I unlock the screen while the keyboard is open, the Droid displays in landscape mode, but is unresponsive. Then it flips to portrait.

Is this normal? If so, is there a tweak to allow landscape mode for the home screens?

It all depends on the phone but there is an app called Go Launcher that allows you to use landscape mode among other useful features

I am using the original Droid. I tried that launcher, but it stays in portrait. I can get Launcher Pro to display in landscape, but I was hoping the stock launcher would display in landscape and thus the home screens with MUIU.

MIUI Launcher does not support landscape, and as far as I can tell, it never will. The Chinese Dev's designed it for portrait only, and my gut feeling tells me they want to keep it that way.
