Home Key does not take me home anymore

Hi All, I started observing that when I leave an app with the home key, I do not get to the home screen but rather to the screen selection mode, where you get to pick which screen to open. This happens with all applications. For example opening Pone from the quick launch menu and pressing the home key...
Similarly opening Phone from a non-home screen and pressing the home key gets me back to the home screen. It is as if the home key.
Now I wonder if this is related to SW, HW, or settings. I am running a stock ROM build number 6.5.1-73 from Nov 30 2011
Please help.
Thanks,
Adil

Are you also using the STOCK launcher or a third-party launcher such as Launcher Pro?

Have you tried a hard reset with the volume down and the power button held for 10 seconds? Are you sure you aren't double tapping the home button? Because that is what opens the screen selector.

Go to Menu, Settings, Application and see if you have something in the Double tap home launch section. Possibly that's what's going on.

Sally, I checked the double tap and it is not active.

I made sure it is not a double tap by looking at the trace log.

Hard reset didn't fix it. Is a factory reset my last resort?
Thanks,
Adil

It's looking that way. To protect your SMS and Phone Log history install SMS Backup and Restore, and Phone Log Backup and Restore, both by Ritesh Sahu. Run them once and then reset. Once reset is complete, install and run again and you'll have the histories back.

Factory reset did fix the issue. It is a pita though.
Thanks All.

Glad you had success with the restore. Yeah it's a pain but thank God it is available to us.
