Holster or no holster

I use a holster because it's just easier. Clip on, use phone, snap back in. Plus if I put it in my pocket I know I'd crush it by leaning or carrying something heavy. It's usually in it's holster next to my gun holster. Both are there in case I need them.

Regards,
Brandon

I used to use the holster daily for months...it never seemed like an out of style thing and still doesn't imo, but style doesn't really matter so yeah, I stopped because I got tired of getting it stuck on my pocket when trying to slide the phone out. I always use the shell that came with the holster though when I leave my apartment, and the holster still for extra protection during football/capture the flag/tree climbing. It's all preference.

Can someone answer for me how a holster can be a "style" choice in the first place? I mean, it's a utility. A tool.

If a holster can be a "style" choice, then so can: a cigarette pack, a grocery bag, and a water/drink bottle.

I'd love to see someone who's "style" is cramped by these things drinking out of a ziplock bag, lighting up mangled, linty cigarettes, and carrying their weekly groceries sans bag.

"Oh, sorry dude - it's not "in" to drink out of corporate packaging anymore, so I use a generic zip-lock, or sheep bladder."

Look, if you're forsaking fanny packs, cell holsters and God knows what other utilities as a "style" choice, for the discomfort of loading your linty pockets down with your swag, then I'm afraid you lack the capacity to distinguish form from function.

I hope backpacks, baggage, and wallets don't go out of style.

wow, i never thought about a holster being "out of style". i use it. i dont want my phone to get damaged while it's in my pocket.

I can't stand holsters or anything else hanging off my body like necklaces and watches. It's uncomfortable for me. Also I can see a holster easily coming off your belt and falling on the ground. A phone is safer in your pocket IMO.

none for me thanks...

I haven't used a holster in years because every belt clip ends up breaking and the phone crashes to the ground, or in the toilet or who knows where. The only one that kind of worked was the super heavy duty ones police and rescue use. But to get the phone off your belt required turning it 180 degrees and pulling a certain way... Didn't use that one for too long either, but it didn't break.

Been using one of these for several years and love it. Slips right into a pocket and all is well. I do have to agree that the Droid X is not going to be comfortable in a pants pocket, but my Droid 2 is fine. :motdroidhoriz:

my default Verizon holster has been through hell and is still in perfect condition, doesn't feel like it will ever break.

EDIT: for the dx :p

Lol - my holsters (on two phones in 4 years plus) have never slipped off. Front and center at several metal concerts, bicycling, various bars/clubs on the weekends, work - it doesn't matter.

Frankly, I'm thinking the people poo-pooing holsters are completely unaware of some of the quality holsters available.

I'm currently using the Verizon shell-holster. There is no way my phone is going to fall off.
