Help With Rooting

Hello, I am pretty new to the droid. And i was wondering if anyone could help me root my phone with all of the new software and kernals to make my phone faster. If someone could give the links to all the downloads and steps on how to root my phone that would be AWESOME. I very much appreciate it. Thanks
