Help with kernel!!

I don't know anything about kernels and I found out I need update my kernel to get my camera working again and YouTube videos. I'm running liberty v2.0. The forum says ***** DO NOT USE ANY OF THE BELOW FILES IF YOU HAVE NOT UPDATED YOUR PHONE BEYOND 2.3.15, THESE FILES WILL NOT CREATE A FULL UPDATE FOR YOU, YOU WILL BE STUCK IN BOOTLOADER AND NEED TO USE A SBF FILE IF YOU DO ****** and the file is "2.3.340 Kernel Updater (2.6.32.9-g55626e1)" am I safe to download this if my kernel is "2.6.32.9-ga42712e

You should head on over to mydroidworld.Com and learn how to SBF your phone. You should be on 340 right now. And to stock 340, root, install Droid 2bootstrap, get the 2nd files you need from the official gingerbread 596 thread, and install them. This will get you to the latest and greatest OS for this phone. No more worries about no working camera.
