Help creating a Rom?

I used to be a dev over at XDA for the HTC Droid Eris. Making a Rom for an HTC device was very simple. Now I have a Motorola Droid 1 and want to start making Roms for this device. My question is, what all do I need? I already have the Virtual Machine with Ubuntu installed as well as Java6. Is there a no b.s. guide somewhere to help me create a Rom for this phone? If someone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Nothing helpful at all, it's mostly about app development, not ROM development. I was just looking for an easy to understand guide for building a ROM.
