Handcent double notifications after update

Yesterday I updated my handcent sms and suddenly I am getting double notifications on all my texts. Previously I had been using hancent for several months without the double notifications. Here's what i've already done to fix it, with no avail.

1) unchecked all notifications in the stock messaging app.
2) restarted
3) uninstall and reinstall handcent.

if it helps, the extra notification is a green bubble that says "sms" as opposed to the old one associated with the stock sms app. also, when i open the notification tab and press the notification, it gave me a choice of handcent or stock messaging, i chose handcent and now it doesnt ask anymore.

any ideas how i can get rid of it? thanks guys!

i got the update too but don't have this problem. maybe you should mail the devs for support?

I get the same problem and have also tried uninstalling and turning notifications off on the stock sms. No luck.
