I am Newbie to DroidX, I got my DroidX (Verizon) few days ago. I have Kenwood DNX6160 in my car. I was able to pair the DROIDX to my headunit with no issues. My problem which I cant figure out is my SMS is greyed out and I googled and cant find a solution but I find everyone with a DROIDX have the function working but its greyed out for me.
I went into the TELP Setup and the SMS ON - OFF is greyed out too....

Whats wrong is my unit bad or do i need to download stg to the phone or unit

My phone has
System Version - Version 2.3.3.340
Android Version - 2.2.1

Kenwood DNX6160
System Version - 1.1.0
Bluetooth Module Version - 3.60

The phone pairs perfectly, phonebook calls etc like i said only the SMS is greyed out

Any help is greatly appreciated

I would check Kenwood's site and be sure your head unit is up to date. The Bluetooth software looks to be up to date.

I have a DNX6140 and I do have the SMS option available. Maybe even make sure all your Bluetooth options are enabled on your phone.

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums App

IIGood thanks for your response. I looked at Kenwood site and when I go into the option I dont see under Motorola DROIDX anyway so I chose another phone just to see if there is any update and there is a 3.80 which i will try.......

Oh bluetooth options on the phone anything specific I need to look for. I will look and see what options are there in the bluetooth options on the phone........

Also did u have to install anything extra on ur headunit or phone. Is your Droid rooted or something

I am just trying to gather info coz its weird that everyone with DroidX have the SMS feature working where as to me its not

I looked into my DroidX bluetooth settings there is nothing peculiar. I also have the most updated version of software on my phone.
The bluetooth options on the phone are discoverable, turn bluetooth on.

Is there anything the phone need any app?
