Hello Everyone,

I was recently given an inactive Droid 1. I have resisted carrying any kind of cell phone (that wasn't off) for years. Even though I don't really have a mobile lifestyle, I'm now hooked. The phone has replaced my alarm clock, I use it as a remote for a HTPC, and too many other things to list. I used the droid as a "pocket computer" with just wifi for a few weeks, and then decided to activate it with pageplus cellular (thanks to a post I read on here somewhere) since a few dollars a month is a small price to pay for a phone, even though I'll seldom use it, unconnected to wifi.

So, I'm a happy camper in android land I guess. I'm going to attempt to root the thing at some point, and will probably need to post some questions in the mega droid1 rooting thread.

Anyway, glad this forum exists, and thanks to all for making this a great source of information.

Welcome to the site. Glad to see you're enjoying your D1. They're addicting I know. I couldn't survive without mine....well, maybe I could but I wouldn't like it.

Welcome aboard :)
Congrats on the D1 - they are certainly a great phone...welcome to the forums!
Welcome to Droid Forums!! Make yourself at home :)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
Wow, this place is great.

I've not only found a low-cost provider perfect for my low usage, but there's a guide post that showed me how to root my phone in minutes, and now have droidwall configured to allow my apps to only connect via wifi, except when I specifically allow 3g for an app, so I can enable mobile data when I need it without draining my account with data charges. It's perfect. Woo!
That's great, I am happy we were able to help out!
