Because I have a license plate reader blocker installed on our vehicles.

They asked me why they couldn't capture the license plate with their camera and I told them it's because my whereabouts are none of their business unless I do something to make it their business.

They asked me if they could run my driver's license and then they looked over the front and back of the car and couldn't distinguish the blocker from the usual license plate illumination bracket. I left them scratching their head's, but I'm sure they will be doing some Googling later :p

I thought blockers were illegal.

I also thought Mythbusters did an episode on it and they usually didn't work.

I have one on my front license plate but not the rear. The rear was damaged in delivery and completely distorts normal viewing when it shouldn't. I figured I'd get pulled over more for that then for speeding, so I didn't install it. I never did return it for a replacement, but yeah...I like the way you think! LOL

Violating my right of privacy is illegal. Apparently they do work and work quite well.

It's not just law enforcement that scan. Private companies do as well and those are the ones I am targeting. I drive the speed limit, have never been ticketed...

Mine is a lighting system. Are you saying you have a cover that overlays the license plate?

You got lucky. They are unreliable, at best. And illegal in every state.
