Google-IO-2013-Google-Store-1600-aa.jpg

Today Google launched a store designed to sell devices that is now separate from the Play Store. Everything from phones, tablets, watches, and chromebooks can be found here:Google Store - Nexus Chromecast and more . What are your thoughts about Google creating their own separate store that is separate from the Play Store?

Not everyone lives in a city that can support a Google Store, making the PS a good choice. Many of us like to see and touch before we buy. I like idea of a physical retail location.

A physical location also gives them more people presence. Many common users are not familiar with Google's hardware offerings. This will certainly increase their sneaker traffic....hopefully.

The Google store in the OP was not referring to a physical location, I could have used a better image. But the Google Store in the OP is a cyberstore.

That is very disappointing. I will go back to my rock now.

They should open physical locations.

Should try something like what Samsung does at best buy. Should lower cost as opposed to opening their own stores. Not sure who they could partner with though.

I hate to be a nay sayer but I think its gunna flop if they just make like the apple store.
They need a new catch. They need something that you cant run to best buy or amazon for.
a service niche, or entertainment niche..... You want people saying you just Never know whats gunna happen at the Google store. Kinda a Willy Wonka crazy crap happens here all the time. But if it is just a store with product...... its done. Apple works because they make it to where that is pretty much where you have to go to get certain things.
Apple does do one thing right.... they have Apple care and techs that actually know every nuance of their product.
So thats my take..... But I am a fuddy dudd so there ya go. time for my nap now. LOL

I don't get this cycle. As amazon and other online retailers have consumed more and more of the sales market share, brick and mortar stores have been going caput. Now online retailers are opening brick and mortar stores.

What am I missing?

You WANT a "new" phone that came out October 2013? It's a nice phone and all but really?
Yes really. The N5 is $350 for a phone that functions very well. For those of us who are not slaves to our carrier, that is a good price point. The N6 is a nice phone, but most people do not want to pay $700 for a phone.

1) thanks, well said.
2) Phones are totally overkill in the hardware specs. You dont need a 805 or a 810 or a qhd 3d screen or a finger print scanner. Those are just essentially marketing ploys.
3) If your phone lays it's not the processor or the ram, it's the USELESS skin the OEM put on it...
