Google Play installed itself, now most apps don't appear -OG Droid - Rooted to 2.2.2

Hope I posted this to the right spot. A long time ago I rooted my OG Droid to 2.2.2. Things were great and I could install whatever I wanted from the Market. Then recently the phone autoupdated from Market to Google Play. Now most apps I want to install are not showing up in Google Play. If I find a direct link to the app, I get the message "Your device isn't compatible with this item".

For example, this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ubercab

Claims to require 1.6. But I can't see it in Google Play and it gives the error above when I try to install it.

I'm sure this is a simple issue, but I'm having trouble finding info on it because the OG is so old now. Can anyone give me some tips? Do I need to force it back to Google market somehow?
