Google Maps?

I finally was able to get a full days use of out the battery and then the past two days I noticed it was back to how it was (only getting half a day) so I looked up the battery usage and it said 91% was from google maps. This is confusing me because I always have location and gps off unless I'm using it, and I haven't used it the past two days. Anyone know why google maps keeps running even though I'm not using it? Only new apps I've downloaded the past 2 days are ebay, paypal, and yahoo mail...and I don't think any of those would cause this.

Maps taking up system resources

I'm not sure what the deal is but I have noticed the same problem every now and again when I see it all I do is power down and power up again and it seems to clear everything up.

it might secretly be running latitude on its own? mine did that.
