google maps wont sign in

My google account is signed in but when I go to Google Maps and attempt to pull up latitude, the phone will have me sign in with my google account or create an account. After attempting to sign in with my google account, the screen says that the account is already signed in on the phone...

Well 4 hours later of doing nothing to my phone, I get a notification asking for permission to allow Google Maps to access the network... and now all is well again.
