Google is Restructuring; New Parent Company Will be Called Alphabet

I may be missing something but in the article alone it lists several companies that go by the same name. They don't all pay each other royalties, buy domain names, etc...

"For many, the brush with Google’s aura is an interesting curiosity. “It’s quite flattering really,” said Steve Lockwood, the company secretary of Alphabet, a small recruitment and outsourcing firm in London. “We probably won’t put it on the agenda to sue them over it, but if they want to make us a very generous offer for our domain names, we’ll certainly consider it.”

"BMW is examining whether any trademark infringement has taken place, Ms. Sandstede said."

In today's world with today's USPTO I would be shocked if they weren't sued.

I mean, you'd think they'd have checked things like this out, but at the same time, this seemed to come "out of nowhere" as far as announcement and everything else. I'm sure if they looked too closely, things might've leaked.
