Google Earth GONE from the store...?

This might be slightly OT. But why is everyone worried about Google Earth anyway? How are you actually using this, other than for fun? Google maps offers practical, usable version of related technology already. And doesn't this app take up a lot of space? Just wondering if I need to download this when I am able.

YEs, I'm a GISS and use it frequently...

I have no idea what a "GISS" is. But i don't think that I am one. So, I'm not going to sweat that I can't download this thing...unless you can convince me otherwise? :):)

Sorry geographic information system specialist.... I make maps on a Emergency Management team.

As for NEEDING to d/l it? naw.. google maps will do the average user just fine...

Hello Sal, nobody is worried about it we are only trying to uncover why or what is causing this.

We don't like to come across issues with no solutions : )

It's like asking, why could we see it and now we can't, if we couldn't see it ever, that's one thing, but we COULD see it and now we can't. So the answer is still very unknown.

What I'm saying is, it has not been pulled from the market. All the speculation that they pulled it or are blocking Droid users makes no sense when it seems that a fair percentage of users are still able to access it.

It seems more likely to me that the market is for some reason not properly identifying the handset as one that is eligible for the app; a bug of sorts rather than pulling an app all together.

I just downloaded and installed it while typing this post.

I have a feeling as more and more OTA's go out this thread will grow larger and larger.

It could very well be a bug but I don't know what kind of bug it would be for it to appear for users then suddenly not. Thats the kicker......

I totally get that. Weird imponderables are the raison d etre of these forms for me. Bring logic to the universe and answers about gadget quirks!!! :) Earth just seems like a popular app, wondering why given its large size on droid.

Maybe the Google Earth/Droid combo using the iPhone-esque touch commands is a legal issue with Apple?

I downloaded it right after my update on the morning of the 3/31. Now I don't see it in the market. But it works great and it is really slick. Glad I got it before the 'glitch' in the market.

I think it's a fair % that can't see it, and the minority that still can see it.

As far as people who are posting, I agree. But when you consider that only a fraction of users visit this site and only a fraction of those visitors even post, and only a fraction of those who post will post anything but questions when they have a problem... it seems that a handful of people posting that they can still access it means a "fair" bit of the total user base.

It's kind of like customer complaints vs compliments in retail. Most people will voice their opinion when they are displeased but very few will speak up when they are content.

I have no use for it neither. It's takes up too much space and I wont use it.

I have no use for it. Let me uninstall it and see if I can still see it in the Market.

Well, after uninstall I can't find it in the Market, however its still appearing in my downloads as being downloadable.
