Goodbye iPhone hello Droid

Hello everyone,

I just recently switched from AT&T to Verizon. Been an iPhone customer for years and now I am in aaahhhhh over this new device called a Droid HTC Incredible.

I consider myself fairly tech savvy This phone has so many possibilities. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning!

I need some help though. I've been looking through the forum and to be quite honest, it just further confuses me more. I apologize for asking these questions but I am just getting so frustrated not understanding what everyone is talking about.

What is ROM? From what I have been reading it opens the doors even more. Is it easy to install? Does it really improve your battery life? Right now mine drains within a few hrs. I force close apps which helps but still...battery life lags.

What is Rooting your phone? I still can't figure that one out.

Is there a way to get up to the minute Facebook notifications? I managed to go into my settings and get it to sync every 15 min but still...15 min is a long time...unlike my old iPhone which was up to the second.

Is there a way to remove all those apps which you have to scroll through? Wayyyy tooooo many! Can I make folders and organize apps that way? Having to find each one takes forever and gets really annoying.

Rooting is more or less giving the user full and complete access to th phones system. Think of a rom as a modified version of the base os that includes new features, fixes, etc.

Try Apps Organizer and Folder Organizer, both on the market. You can't make alterations to the App drawer but you can neatly group your apps on one of the home screens.
Rooting is similar to jailbreaking.
ROMs are basically themes on steroids, not only is the UI customized but the OS as well.
Can't help you with Facebook, sorry.
