Gmail sync

If I delete emails on my phone, they don't show up on my phone but the number of new emails is still there. And they are not deleted from my account. The emails still show on my computer.

Any ideas how to fix? Sync is on.

I'm guessing that this happens when you swipe the message away? If so check your settings because it is set to archive, set that to delete and you should be all good. If there is a number showing but no messages click the tab and select all mail

Actually I'm checking the box and pressing the trash can. It will remove the email and take away the number. But when I reopen Gmail, the number of emails returns. It corresponds too the number of new emails since last deleting on a computer

That's weird, well the only other thing I would try is.....settings, apps, and then clear data and that should fix it
