Gingerbread on the D2

no worries man....if I can help more I am willing.

We were all "retarded" when we first started.....the benefits of being a Newb or FNG I guess. I am just getting over my retarded phase....now I am just challenged.

ok, the more i do this the more clear it's becoming. i really appreciate your guidance, nerds.

i have rsd lite, the latest droid2 drivers and the 2.3.2 sbf. i can see my phone in rsd lite. when i load up the sbf and push start, i get "Failed flashing process. (0x7100); phone connected". any ideas?

edit: found a thread on the above issue, am trying fixes right now

ok i'm on the right track. windows 7 didn't work with rsd lite at all and i tried every fix the thread posted. i put it on my xp laptop and it found the sbf immediately and started to flash it when the phone battery died. fml.

this phone is so frustrating (mostly lag/awful multitasking). i have zero patience for it.

just for fun, this was my first droid 2:

can't tell you how good that felt. i keep the old one in a ziplock bag and step on it from time to time when the new one gets laggy. idk why i would possibly want to switch from liberty, the least frustrating experience i've had with the d2...this is what i get for tampering.

will post results either way.

Does anyone have a fix for randomly losing network access after a couple of days of uptime? The only thing that seems to restore it is a reboot of the phone

It's a good idea to reboot the phone once a day anyway :)

This thread has been Thunder struck!!

Any chance this is related to p3droids statement about verizon possibly blocking network access to root users or people who installed the leak?

Verizon hasn't issued an OTA for the droid 2 since october 28th. P3 said that the carriers have only started looking into it the past few months (correct me if im wrong, im going by memory), and that it would either be a tracking program within the update or that they'd be looking to see who's phones the update wasn't pushed out to.

The gingerbread leak/official update coming soon may have this supposed "tracking program" but i don't think anyone knows for certain. I think everyone will agree (does everyone agree?) that verizon currently doesn't have a way to tell if you've rooted/flashed a ROM to your Droid 2. Can't speak for other phones that may have recently received an OTA on verizon.

As far as I know Verizon has no current way to tell if you've flashed to a ROM or if you're rooted currently, I think that Verizon is almost definitely going to have a root tracking program in gingerbread though. It makes a lot of sense for them to put a tracker into gingerbread. My fingers are crossed though that they don't.

I don't think that it should be their business as long as we don't do anything illegal on our phones but when we tether it's stealing from them (no matter how convenient it might be) and as a company they have a duty to stop theft from their company. I agree that it sucks, but it's also a very good move from their point of view.
