Galaxy S6 losing charge rapidly

My S6 is losing its charge rapidly. What apps/widgets might be draining the charge? What else might be draining the charge?

Try an app called GSam battery. It's a battery monitor and can narrow down as to which apps are using the most of your battery. Should be able to find the culprit pretty easily with it.

Other factors could be a weak signal, that's an absolute killer on battery if your phone is trying to constantly find a signal or is switching between 3g & 4g due to a bad signal.

You can see what is eating your battery inside of your settings app. Mine is listed underneath the Power Saving menu.

Widgets and apps can use up battery depending on how often they poll for a refresh. Some apps like your email app have settings where you can dictate how often, or if at all, they can sync for data.

A weather widget, for example, has to pull data from the web. There are settings inside of the widget that let you tell it to refresh its data every hour, six hours, twelve hours, etc.

Unfortunately, it is not standard across all apps and widgets so you have to do some searching within them to see if you can adjust them.

Also, usually the screen is the main culprit so I tend to keep my screen brightness set to Auto.

Your battery statistics is where I would start to look to see what is happening.

Thanks for both replies. I think it really sucks that the S6 can lose its charge so rapidly regardless of what is installed. I probably should have bought a (ugh) Droid.

Sometimes it's just an app that is hung up. Sometimes it's the indexing service. Sometimes it's a bad setting. Sometimes it's something as simple as an email sync that is stuck.

You never can tell until you investigate it.

Also, I have investigated until I am exhausted. It has not helped. i also tried. getting the GSam battery app. My phone can't find it.

When I try to get GSam battery app, I get a message that says "Check your connection and try again". My connection is fine, because I can send and receive txts, etc. What now?
IMHO Galaxy S6 phones suck.

I did that. Thanks. Now I am trying to understand the GSam Battery Monitor app. dDoesn't help me much. It shows Screen: 69% ans App Usage: 26%.
What does that tell me? Still confused.

OK. I clicked App Usage and it came up with App Sucker - View % Power Used:
Android System 10.4%
Kernal (Android OS) 3.5%
System UI 2.1%

None of the %s seem unusually high, except maybe Android System 10.4%
I give up. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I also think this board should send me an email when someone answers my post.
As I recall...we do. It would be in your notification settings in your profile...it used to be set to email by default...I turned mine off years ago..

Correct....all you have to do is subscribe to whatever thread you want to follow. On the new forum, you now click on "watch thread", that should notify you of all new comments.

Approximately how many hours do you get after it's charged? And how many hours is your screen time. It could be that the amount of time you have is typical for this phone. Back in the day, phones could last two to three days or more. Not anymore. These phones do so much more than those phones so use much more battery. There are also many things that will use your battery much faster. If you do a lot of gaming, watching videos or streaming it will use much more battery. Screen brightness set to high, emails and facebook set to push notifications immediately, etc will use more battery.
