Galaxy Nexus alarm clock auto silencing after 1 second

When a alarm goes off the sound file plays for about a second then stops when the dismiss and snooze buttons appear. It happens with both the stock app and custom apps. I have tried removing nova launcher as well as volume+ and neither have made a difference. The sound is fine on everything except the alarm clock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's odd. Try a factory reset, if that doesn't fix it. I would contact Verizon about a warranty replacement. Just make sure you back-up your stuff first.
