Galaxy Gear 2 compatible with non-Samsung phones at all?

I think I know the answer, but just checking... Have a chance to get a Note 4 and Gear 2 in trade for one of my Nexus 6s and considering if it's a good trade. The Note 4 is on T-Mobile. I was wondering if I sold the Note 4 could I still benefit from the Gear 2 and possibly use it with my Droid Turbo.

I don't think so.....it depends on if the gear 2 is the google play version or not. I think....don't hold me to that...

I think you have to initially set it up with a Samsung phone. After that it should theoretically work without it.

There is an app, Gear Manager For All by Image Pro, that makes Gear devices work on non Samsung phones. I don't remember which models it does not work with but they are listed in the info about the app on the Play Store.
