FYI - Weather widget seems to be the culprit to random battery drains

I've had my D2G for 2 years now. Every couple of months or so, I seem to encounter an issue where the phone suddenly starts using up it's charge in a few hours when I'm not using it; no or few calls, not surfing, not playing games, etc. In the past I've taken off most of the apps and rebooted, then re-installed a few at a time, but I never caught a "smoking gun" app. I finally quit installing some of my favorite apps that I thought might have something to do with it. I normally keep wifi, bt, gps off until needed. The last 2 times the battery drain appeared, the only "background" app I had loaded was for my weather widget. The battery monitor showed that the android OS was consuming 70% of the battery. Both times, I deleted the widget app, rebooted, and went back to the regular power drain. The first time was an experiment. The second convinced me. I had the widget set to up date once per hour. I like my weather widget, but I hate these random power drains.
