A good friend passed along the latest update for the Droid Bionic - 5.5.891. Being the adventurous types we decided to give it a shot to see what enhancements are headed our way. Well, to say the least Motorola has done their homework with this update and they have managed to patch root access and since there is not a way back it leaves us with an un-rooted Bionic until we/someone can figure out what they did to patch it and bypass it again. Until then our recommendations are to stay away from any updates until a root method has been found.

Aside from broken root we will check this update out and let you all know what we find.

They did the same thing to the DX when they went to Gingerbread; which took a couple weeks at best for a pre-rooted Gingerbread ROM/SFB to be released. I would imagine the same would be the case here, if not shorter timed.

Both of the Dinc2's updates( gingerbread and latest ota) patched root..
Seems as if someone reads the forums instead of concentrating on bugs...

posted tomorrow using the space time continuum app on my D1...

a) Blur isn't the end of the world and b) it's only a short matter of time before a new way is found.

Don't even care to update. Let the devs strip out the fixes and apply them to our custom roms.
