Frequent Launcher Crashes On ICS Leaks? (across multiple launchers)

Are other Bionic users who are running an ICS leak seeing frequent launcher crashes? I'm currently running ICS .232, but also saw this behavior on .230 and .2233 (using SamuriHL's awesome flashback method to install each without losing data). I've tried Nova, Apex, and now the default Homescreen launchers, and they all force close multiple times a day. (At least, I assume these are force closes -- the error message reads "Unfortunately, [insert launcher name] has stopped working.") I've tried wiping cache, and uninstalling all launchers except the one I'm currently testing, but the crashes continue. The fact that it occurs across multiple launchers is the weirdest part.

If this is just a bug with the current ICS builds, then I'm willing to live with it for now, but if the issue is specific to my Bionic then I need to get it sorted out. I guess the next thing to try would be a factory reset? And if that doesn't work, a full FXZ back to .902 and then reapply .905 and .232? Wanted to see what others are experiencing before resorting to such drastic measures (although I am rooted and own Titanium Backup Pro, which should mitigate the pain somewhat).

All feedback is welcome, but please state the launcher(s) you use and the ICS leak you're on. Thanks!

Do you have any 3rd party widgets installed that you tend to use across launchers? Or 3rd party live wallpapers? So far, I haven't seen mention of your issue. And have never experienced it myself.

Interesting -- I hadn't thought of that. Live wallpapers are not the problem because the crashes occur with or without them, but I do use several 3rd party widgets -- mainly HD Widgets, Scrollable News Widget, Pandora, Plume, and Flipboard. I'll try swapping them out one at a time and see if that fixes the problem.

Anyone else seen/not seen this issue?

I'm currently on the .2233 leak and have launcher restarts/crashes all of the time. I've had the same issue with both Apex and Nova launcher.

I'll try swapping out widgets to see if the launchers perform better.

I use the following widgets:
- Calendar
- Any.Do
- Minimalist Text
- Bookmarks
- Elixir2

i have somewhat experienced this problem periodically.. sometimes the launcher will just completely restart, and then other times all of a sudden all of the text will just turn to jibberish (this mainly happens while in the lapdock but has happened on its own as well.) and its definitely the launcher because it will just be any text that has something/anything to do with the launcher, if i open an app the text is fine. very strange.. luckily the problem does not occur often enough to really get on my nerves.. hence the reason i havent really done much to try to alleviate the problem.

oh btw its done this with Apex, Nova, and SPB Shell 3D.. but for now im sticking with Apex

I removed all widgets I was using with Nova launcher and the restarts persisted.

I removed shortcuts I had in the scrollable hotseat (homescreen dock) and the restarts seem to have stopped. I only had one restart the whole day after removing these shortcuts.

I've been experimenting with the Atrix HD launcher that was posted recently with the Circles widget. Interestingly enough, it seems to have solved my force close issues. It also works with Webtop, allowing you to have a separate set of screens with tablet-style widgets, like the default Bionic launcher does in ICS. I'm still on the .232 leak.

There are some weird things to get used to with the Atrix HD launcher though. For one, the primary home screen is the leftmost screen, with all additional screens to the right (as opposed to the primary home screen being in the middle). To add more screens, you have to continue scrolling to the right, which brings up the screen manager. You can add up to 7 home screens, 2 more than the default Bionic launcher, which is a plus. Also, the Google search bar is fixed at the top of every screen, but you still get the same number of rows -- they are just slightly shrunk.

The Circles widget is definitely a plus (it only works with the Atrix HD launcher), and there's also a Moto Calendar widget that toggles between your upcoming tasks and a full month calendar display, which is useful. Most third-party launcher functions that you will find in Nova or Apex are missing though -- not surprising since this is the stock Moto launcher for the Atrix HD.

If anyone's interested, see this thread over at XDA for screenshots and the download.
