Flash attempt = Reboot+"Sorry! Process system is not responding." + Red Battery Icon

Alright, I got my droid 1 running froyo rooted successfully using this method:

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html

No issues there, went exactly as planned. Then I went here to begin the flashing process:

Motorola Droid Full Solution Updated

As soon as I used RSD Lite 4.6 to "Flash SPRecovery_ESE81.sbf file," the phone restarted and now continuously reboots, the battery icon is red with a slash through it, and as soon as a reboot completes I see this error:

"Sorry! Process system is not responding."

From there I can choose a force quit or a wait option, neither really seem to make a difference, if I leave the phone alone it will stay on, but as soon as I unlock it and start looking around or doing anything, it crashes and reboots. I've tried several different things, starting up by holding down x and doing a reset, but that had absolutely zero effect, and that's where I stopped because I'm stuck.

When I look in the About Phone info, it reads:
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: C_01.43.01P
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-omap1-g7fa8788
android-build@apa26#1

I'm completely stumped. Any help would be EPIC of you, I have dug around a little to find some ideas but no other issues that I was able to find seem to really match this scenario (including kernels and all that). At any rate, I would greatly appreciate the help on this... it's like a "soft brick," really weird. Thanks so much for your time reading this, these forums have helped me tremendously, so much so that I decided to sign up and participate (something not many forums have convinced me to do).

P.S. I can also still get the the Bootlogger just fine and it reads the USB connection successfully, and I can also still get to recovery mode. The Recovery mode at the top reads"

Android System Recovery <2e>

I am wondering why you used that thread from HoFo. Are you ultimately wanting to program your phone to use on Cricket or Metro?

Anyways, what you have done by using the SPRecovery_ESE81.sbf file is put an 2.1 kernel on your phone running 2.2, as clearly evidenced by your info above.

To fix it, since you can get into SPRecovery is to find a 2.2 kernel, download it to your pc, change the name to update.zip and put it on your sdcard. Then boot into recovery, select allow update.zip, then select apply update.zip and that should fix you.

Make sure you select one of the 2.2 Froyo kernels.

good luck

Alright so I went to the site you provided and downloaded a standard voltage 2.2 kernel, got it installed. The good news is that my battery icon is back and I'm not getting random reboots anymore. The bad news is that I am still getting the process system error on boot and the phone is now doing hard freeze every now and then. I am going to just try and unroot and take the phone all the way back to factory settings completely. I have also noticed that when I go into the phone itself and look at the sd card and storage, the phone is not telling me the size of EITHER the phone or the sd card memory. At any rate, I'm not sure why this one is putting up such a fight, but the more I figure out I'll keep notes and when this is all said and done I'll create a post summarizing the whole thing from start to finish for other folks who might be experiencing the same issues. Wanted to say thanks again to teddyearp for the response and to the rest of the forum for the great information on here.

Thanks, there's a good guide in the rescue squad guide section and/or at my site for unrooting your phone. I'm still real curious though. Why did you also use the guide you linked from HoFo (Howardforums)?

The only reason I used the HoFo guide was because it happened to be the first one I found when I started looking for root guides, I didn't get to DroFo.net until after I had already rooted with that method, otherwise I definitely would have used a forum here first. I've had much better experience here so far and also much better information, not to discredit HoFo or speak ill of it or anyone who uses or posts on it at all, that's just been my personal experience. When it comes to the Droid this takes the cake. Your site is incredible btw, very good job and very useful. The unroot I did with your guide went flawless, phone is back to being fully functional. Thanks again.

Glad you got it back to good running order. That guide at HoFo is not only for root, but to program the droid for use on another CDMA carrier as well. Unfortunately, HoFo only allows one to edit their post for about two hours, so when the info no longer applies, well you know first hand now.

And I have nothing at all against HoFo, I got my start there (and HTR) back in the razr days. In fact I was inspired to do my site after using Mark Venture's site if you looked at my razr stuff you'd see I got his permission for some of it.

Anyways, thanks and hope to see you back on the dark side soon . . .

I'm having the same problem how did you mount your phone I can't figure out how to. When I connect my phone to my computer it doesn't do anything. Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: NVM I figured it out.
