File transfer trouble

Hi, I'm a little frustrated as I was managing to transfer photos and short home movies onto my Samsung Galaxy S3. But then the next day, my mac was saying things like:
"cannot connect to device" or
"If your device's screen is locked, disconnect its USB cable, unlock your screen, and then reconnect the USB cable".
The later is the most confusing as the screen wasn't locked! and i have tried disconnecting the cable and having no lock on my phone but no joy at all!! For now I'm using drop box app to have my media on my phone but this is does not have the clarity and is a bit stoppy starty when the signal is rubbish. Does anybody have any ideas?? cheers

Hi. I have a Mac Mini (running Mountain Lion) and I had the same problem. I got around it by using Kies Air service. It's an app that I believe came with the Galaxy III. If not I'm sure it's available at Google Play. Your phone and computer must be on the same wifi network when you open the app. You will be directed to an ip address. Type it in on your mac and your phone will basically appear on your computer screen. From there it's pretty simple to transfer files. I've done it with photos and music so far. Video is my next test. Sorry If I'm wasn't very clear with my explanation. I'm pretty new at this. I hope it helped though. Good luck.
