File system when using SSFTP client from Linux (e.g. Ubuntu client)

I have an Android 15 tablet and an Android 11 phone. I run an SSH server with an SFTP 'option' set and it runs OK and can be connected to by SSH/SFTP client from my Ubuntu desktop. Only issue is how to access the file system when using SSFTP client from Ubuntu client. Any ideas on the paths for the the Downloads & Photos & Public (created by me) folders?

On Android, the primary internal shared storage root is located at /storage/emulated/0/ (or via the symbolic link /sdcard/). [1, 2]

Directory Paths on Android via SFTP
  • Downloads Folder:
    • /storage/emulated/0/Download [1]
  • Photos (Camera / DCIM) Folder:
    • /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera [1]
  • Public / Custom Folder (created by you):
    • If you created a custom folder directly in the root of your internal storage, the path will be:
    • /storage/emulated/0/YourFolderName (replace YourFolderName with the exact name you gave it)

Useful Tips
  • Chroot / Home Directory: Depending on which SSH/SFTP server app you are running on your Android tablet or phone (such as Primitive FTPd, SShelper, or an app with built-in SSH/SFTP), your SFTP session might start inside /storage/emulated/0/ as the root or home directory. If so, you can often just reference Download, DCIM/Camera, or your custom folder relative to that starting point.
  • Symlink Alternative: /sdcard/ points directly to /storage/emulated/0/ on most Android builds, so /sdcard/Download or /sdcard/DCIM will also work if your server resolves symlinks properly. [1]

Thanks for the info. I already knew about /storage/emulated/0/ but I didn't know about /sdcard/.
Interestingly, I am able to use ssh to connect from my Ubuntu PC to my tablet and then do Linux commands in my Ubuntu Terminal such as cd & ls.
The problem is with using FileZilla on my Ubuntu PC. I'll raise a topic on Ubuntu's Discourse forum about that.
