Fetching not working in gmail

When I click "Preview" or "Download" for any file type, the "Fetching" pop-up with the red circle graphic is displayed, however no files are displayed with the "Preview" command, and, with the Download command, no green arrow graphic is displayed in the bar at the top of the screen. Files are not being stored on my phone or SD card either.

Would appreciate any help you can offer.

this may/may not help but in most cases solves many issues. also make sure gmail is not moved/installed on the sdcard as this can cause these types of errors. good luck.

~ click menu then settings
~ applications then manage apps
~ click on "ALL" tab and click on Gmail
~ force stop, clear data, clear cache
~ reboot
