False touches on the touch screen

I have an Archos 80g9 8" tablet. I just put a Skinomi screen protector on it and now when I touch the screen on the right side an app on the left side will open, or if I type an L the Q will show up instead. Sometimes I don't even have to touch the screen for something to happen, I just hold my finger near the screen. Does anyone have any ideas what is happening on my tablet. Please help.

I'm guessing these issues weren't there before the screen protector?

Was this a wet application? If so, there may still be solution (or whatever you used) under the protector causing it to react this way. How long have you had the protector on? Sometimes it takes up to 72hrs for it to completely dry. You could try using the squeegee or a card to try and press out the liquid under the protector.

Excellent response, and yes, moisture can cause the display to "see" touches (commonly called "Ghost Typing").

Also finger oils, dirt, any number of contaminants. Another thing that can cause ghost typing is a poorly regulated power supply.
