Facebook to Buy WhatsApp Messenger for an Astounding $16 Billion

Here's a large news piece for this late Wednesday afternoon. This was first reported on one of our sister-sites by Phil.

It looks like today is a big day for Facebook and the popular app WhatsApp Messenger. The popular messaging application is about to be bought out by Facebook, for a whopping $16 billion.

According to the SEC report, the social network mogul is paying WhatsApp $4 billion in cash, $12 billion is Facebook shares and possibly $3 billion in employee stock payouts.

WhatsApp is a popular messaging app, that can message cross-platform, along with sending files, photos, and video.
