MDW : Exclusive: Official Update (Leaked) FRF84B
froyoupdate.png

Before we begin, we should all thank CellZealot, without him this leak would not be possible. We should also thank P3 of My Droid World. MDW and P3 have been very generous to share these leaks with everyone. Without them we don't get to enjoy these frozen delights. DF's send out a great big thank you to all those involved...

Without further adieu this is what everyone wants. The latest Froyo build out of Motorola without losing root.

Here it is in a simple update.zip format.

To update to the official (leaked of course) release version of Froyo 2.2) for the Droid follow the directions below.

1) Download the files
Direct Download -----Official Release (FRF84B)
Mirror One ----- Official Release (FRF84B)
Mirror Two ----- Official Release (FRF84B)

2) Place files on the root of your SD
3) Go into your Recovery
4) Clockwork Directions: go to install zip, find the zip on your sd card, and install
SPrecovery Directions: go to install zip, select allow update.zips (deprecated), install update.zip
5) Reboot your phone.

This file is already: Rooted with Superuser app, bash, and busybox (not installed - see below), 125 - 1000 LV Kernel.

To install busybox use Android Terminal or ADB Shell

TYPE:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
cd system/xbin
busybox --install /system/xbin/
mount -o remount,r -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system

You have now installed busybox installed.

BONUS DOWNLOAD FOR DEVS.
This is the newest release where the files are all deodexed. You know what to do with them once you get it.

I just tried without wiping and got stuck in a boot loop. Will wait to see if anyone figures out how to do it without a wipe. Otherwise I need to set some time aside for this :)

Backing up my current...

Only thing that worries me hoever is my Droid didn't react well to the LV kernal, so if anyone else out there wants to try first ... I might have to wait until it is avail without the LV ...

I have ti DL'd now and the backup is compltete.

BTW, how can I remove backups I made previously from the SD?

Again if you are coming from a froyo build a wipe may not be in order. I recommend you wipe though. Start fresh it can't hurt. This is going to be ther last leak and im told the official VZW file

Take this for what its worth, but i am a bit annoyed.

I read a lot of thanks Miami, and he is a great guy. Luv him. But shouldn't you say, thanks P3, thanks Mydroidworld, thanks for those who got this out.

I'm just asking? Trust me you wouldn't have this otherwise.

I am coming from a never rooted official 2.1...is this safe for me if I don't want to dive into the rooting excitement for droids? This is the OFFICIAL 2.2 that verizon would push over the air for our Droids?
