Well we took it, nice!! Still can't believe those 2000 magical iPhone votes didn't make it.

I believe the editors were bought out by crackers and other baked snacks.

It's always nice to see rampant paranoia and conspiracy theories proven wrong. Frankly, I suspect that Engadget will catch some flak from iPhone fans over the question of when voting actually "ended." From the announcement, it appears they stuck with the "date" (20th) instead of the "day" (Monday) on their page. Given the trend since Saturday, I suspect some iPhone fans may complain they didn't get till midnight tonight to vote.

In any event, I think I'd agree with the Editor's choices. The Droid certainly deserves to be named "gadget of the year" in view of its overall impact on the marketplace. On the other hand, for the vast majority of consumers, the iPhone 3GS is still a better "smartphone" in terms of delivering broad functionality in a user-friendly package.
