Any help with the waving hand over hand to see updates part of this phone?? Looks like everything that should be turned on is, but it doesn't seem to be active. Will a screen protector have any effect on that??

Gestures only work with a few apps. Which ones are you trying?

The stock ones, like Gallery. You can use the motion of your hand to move back and forth through the pictures in a specific album.

Make sure you know where the motion sensor is located at the top of the screen, so you will be sure to move your hand in front of that sensor.

I think you are wanting Quick Glance. It will give you information on battery, mail, missed calls, etc. To make sure its turned on go to Settings, My Device, Motions and gestures, Air gestures and make sure Quick Glance is on. With the screen off and the phone laying flat, move your hand across the top part of the phone. LED should turn blue and the info should be displayed.
