I just set up standard email on my new Droid 4, my email is POP3 from a local provider.

When composing a new email, the system doesn't populate the "to" field address unless it's my own email address, which really doesn't make much sense. It will when I reply to an email but doesn't work on a new one, even after sending several emails to an individual.

I also have a Gmail account on the phone, this seems to work as it should...so far so good.

The POP3 system is my main business email and trying to remember email addresses just isn't going to work. I just upgraded from a Samsung Stratosphere, on it the email worked just fine.

Any suggestions?

The only thing in Settings appears to be the "Display Suggested Addresses" which I have checked.

bump, because I have the same issue. Seems that ever since ICS update, doesn't auto populate. Gmail is fine.

I've gotten it to work...somewhat.

If I enter the email address from scratch at least 3 or 4 times it then "remembers it", the other way is to enter it into my Google+contacts.

The Samsung Stratosphere which the Droid 4 replaced "remembered" and auto filled the email address each and every time, why the difference I don't know?

Could be ICS, I really don't know.

I had the same issue, solved by Emoze

I had the similar issues with weird behavior and evantualy I decided to install Emoze email clie
this app pushes any type of email ,obviously Exchange and IMAP but even POP3 which is very limited email protocol.
