email vs gmail

Just got and set up my new Droid... am quite a happy camper but have some questions... well for this thread I have one specific question. Call me an idiot if that's the case but, What is the difference between the e-mail and g-mail app on this phone? I.e., I am receiving notifications on both "clients"... is there a way to use only one? Thanks, Love the forum LOVE my Droid! jeffM.

Do you only use gmail? If so the you can delete the accounts out of the "e-mail" app. Thats what I did. I have my other e-mail accounts forwarded to my g-mail accounts so I still get all my e-mails.

Actually, I did wind up deleting the "e-mail" account and works fine [thank you though] but stilll wnder about the two... I have other e-mail accounts. too, though...
