No E-mail

Both my wife & I have Motorola Droid phones & have been able to receive E-mails. Several days ago, both phones stopped receiving E-mails. We are able to send but not receive. When tapping the "Email" icon, the error message "Cannot safely connect to server" is shown on both phones & there are no e-mails. nor do any show up under "Notifications".

Are there any suggestions as to what the problem might be & how to fix it?

Try going into:
-Settings
-Manage Applications
-Click on email app
-Clear data and cache
-Than exit and go to app
-Sign back in

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry for the delay in responding as I have been away.

I am receiving E-mail messages now & am back to normal.
